CHARLOTTE - Roland Joseph Robinson, 79, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Providence United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. A livestream will be available for those who cannot attend in person. A private burial with Military Honors will be at Sharon Memorial Park.

Roland was the beloved husband of Chylene Ferguson Robinson and a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Chylene; his daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Patrick Quinn; his cherished grandson, Joseph Quinn; his brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Tara Robinson; his niece Whitney Braddock, her husband Dave and their son Dean; and nephew Jonathan Robinson; as well as many beloved cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Robinson and Teresa Zetzl Robinson.

Roland was a lifelong Charlotte resident and a proud graduate of Myers Park High School, Class of 1964. He continued his education at the University of North Carolina, graduating in 1968, and later participated in the Young Executive Program at UNC Chapel Hill.

Roland proudly served in the United States Army Reserves, where he trained as a medic. His commitment to service was an important part of his life and reflected his caring nature and dedication to others.

Professionally, Roland enjoyed a distinguished career in banking, specializing in asset-based lending. He worked with several prominent financial institutions throughout his career and earned the respect of his colleagues for his knowledge, professionalism, and integrity.

Roland was a longtime member of Providence United Methodist Church, where he found fellowship and community. His faith, family, and lifelong connections to Charlotte were important parts of his life.

Above all, Roland will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his family and took great pride in watching his daughter and grandson grow. His kindness, wisdom, sense of responsibility, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Roland's family extends their gratitude to all those who cared for and supported him throughout his life. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at The Sanctuary – Quail Hunt and Briar Creek Health Center at The Barclay for their incredible support, compassion and care for Roland.
