CHARLOTTE – Arthur Lawrence Colley Jr., 28, of Charlotte, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026. 

Lawrence spent his career in hospitality, most recently serving as Bar Manager at Myers Park Country Club.  Known to many as Larry, he had a remarkable ability to light up every room he entered.  His heart of gold, warm personality, and genuine love for others earned him countless friendships throughout his life.  Lawrence left a lasting impression on everyone he met and will be deeply missed by the many friends and family who loved him dearly. 

Lawrence is survived by his mother, Nicole Colley; brother, Clayton Colley; grandfather, Jorge Montealegre; aunts and uncles, John Bryan, Sue O'Keeffe, Roberta Berg, Beth Colley, and Amy Colley along with their extended families and his dog, Bandit.  He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Lawrence Colley and grandmother, Carol Coleman Montealegre. 

A funeral mass for Lawrence will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3016 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte, NC.  The service will be livestreamed through the church website at: https://stgabrielchurch.org/livefunerals for those unable to attend in person.

    Lawrence, where to begin! I will never forget first meeting you in middle school- you instantly lit up every room with your friendliness, jokes, and bright personality. I will forever cherish the memories we have together growing up, from neighborhood hangouts to our randomly deep talks on the way home from school.     Larry was such a sweet soul. He waited on us many times at the Famous Toastery in Wilmington. He lit up the room and was always so positive. He had so many friends at the Famous Toastery and was like family there. We are deeply saddened to hear of his passing. We will always cherish the fond memories of him and pray for his family and many friends during this very sad time.

    Larry served me a few adult beverages in his role as Bar Manager. I can't say I knew him well...but I wish I could! His was always a shining, happy, nice face, eager to please, whatever that took. He is and will be missed. Larry was a model example of...whatever you do, do it well and with enthusiasm and and those you help along the way will love and appreciate you. He was that! RIP Larry.
