CHARLOTTE - Nelda Mondozzi Price, 90, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026. 

Born on March 27, 1936, in Asheville, North Carolina, she was the daughter of Genarro Mondozzi and Dorothy Faye Mondozzi. She met Joe L. Price Sr., while working at the Bouligney Factory. They were married on August 8th, 1973. Together, they shared nearly 53 years of marriage, love, laughter, and devotion to each other and their family. 
 
Nelda will be remembered for her homemade cakes, beautiful quilts, flourishing gardens, warm hospitality, and unwavering love for her family. Strong-willed and quick-witted, she never hesitated to stand up for those she loved. 
 
No visit to Maw Maw Price’s home was ever complete without something homemade waiting in the kitchen. Family knew there would almost always be something sweet waiting for them, lovingly prepared just for them. Her famous three-layer chocolate cake became legendary among those who knew her, while her butterscotch dessert, lemon cakes, and Coca-Cola cake were treasured family favorites. Those recipes became traditions that brought generations together. More than the desserts themselves, it was the love behind them that made them unforgettable. Every slice was served with conversation, laughter, and the unmistakable feeling that you were home. 
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Genarro and Dorothy Mondozzi; her brothers, Mario, Pete, and Paul Mondozzi; and her daughter-in-law, Christine Price. 
 
She leaves behind her beloved sister, Anna Daugherty; her devoted husband, Joe L. Price Sr.; her son, Kim Morris; her stepson, Joe Price; and her stepdaughter, Karen Lundgren; her cherished grandchildren, Morgan, Keith, Shelby, Joanna, Leah, and Jacob; her great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. 
 
Nelda’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and traditions that will continue to bring her family together for generations. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
