Linda Reid Kuhlmann

July 14, 2026

CHARLOTTE - Linda Reid Kuhlmann passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC.  In the days leading up to her passing, she was able to see all her family and was surrounded by their love at the time of her death.

Linda was born in Granville, NY on October 25, 1945, to Marion and Wesley Nelson.  Upon her graduation from high school, Linda started work in the insurance industry as an administrative assistant.  Linda worked in the administrative and office management field throughout her career in various industries, while taking some time out to raise her three children and babysit more than 50 children over the course of 13 years.  Linda’s children were her greatest joy.

She met her husband, Joe Kuhlmann, on a blind date in the spring of 1962 in upstate NY.  They married on May 8th of 1965.  Their 59 years together saw many adventures, Naval assignments, and travels around the world.  Some of her favorite places traveled were Ireland, Bali, Germany, Alaska, Malaga, Spain, Italy and most recently Greece.  Joe’s naval career took them around the world, and Linda always commented that this “farm girl from upstate NY has seen more of the world than she ever dreamt possible.”

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, both parents, and her siblings, Bud and Jean.  Linda’s ‘can do and take charge’ nature will be missed by her children, Lyn Good-Soule and her husband, Jeff, Lycia Rettig and her husband, Ben, and Joey Kuhlmann.  Also missing their Gramma/Gommy are grandson, RJ Good and his wife, Margaret, granddaughter, Bekah, granddaughter, Emily and her husband, Daniel, and bonus granddaughter, Misty.  Linda recently became a great-grandmother to River (Misty) and Jamie (RJ).  Also surviving is Linda’s sister, Arlene, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

On August 17, 2026, a private service will be held at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC. Because they loved doing everything together, a joint celebration of life for both Linda and Joe will be held that afternoon from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at The Evening Muse in Charlotte, 3227 N Davidson St, Charlotte, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Linda to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306 or via t2t.org.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences may be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.
