Rebecca Nisbet Rencher
April 13, 2026
Rebecca "Becky" Rencher, 90, was the daughter of Walter Olin Nisbet, Jr. and Rebecca Wyse Jones Nisbet.
A native of Charlotte, Becky grew up and enjoyed her long and happy life not far from where she was born on September 4, 1935.
After completing her education at Mount Vernon College, Becky worked for Alcoa Chemical in downtown Charlotte and met her husband Edwin Reese “Bud” Rencher, Jr. from Mobile, Alabama, who worked in the same building. They married in 1963 and raised three children.
Always a welcoming hostess, their lively home on Llewellyn Place was the gathering spot for many neighborhood children of all ages.
Becky and Bud enjoyed entertaining their neighbors and friends and had an open-door policy that provided for constant entertainment. She loved to garden and spent many hours maintaining her backyard flower beds. Becky was a warm and caring mother and friend to many. Never one to complain, she maintained a positive attitude and had a gentle and kind spirit that we will always treasure and remember.
A lifelong member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Becky volunteered alongside her mother Rebe Nisbet at Crisis Assistance Ministry, enjoyed her ladies circle, and decorating the beautiful sanctuary at Christmas with her sister Jane and cousins Genie and Mary.
Becky was an avid bridge player and enjoyed many years playing with her friends. She also enjoyed The New Horizons Book Club, Colonial Dames, The Charlotte Assembly, and her time in Montreat, North Carolina enjoying Happy Heights.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Bud Rencher; sister Jane Nisbet Goode; brother W. Olin Nisbet, Ill; and her brother-in-law, Rusty Goode.
Becky is survived by her daughters, Catherine Mabry (Hank) of Columbia, S.C. and Rebecca Kelly of Charlotte, N.C.; her son, Reese Rencher of Charlotte, N.C; grandchildren, Cate Cook (Will), Fil Mabry (Marion Walker), Lucy Rencher, and Anna Rencher; a great-granddaughter, Louisa Cook; sister-in-law, Marian Nisbet; and special friend and caregiver, Buffy Crawford, who was by her side until the very end.
