Barbara Virginia Ross Goode

Barbara Virginia Ross Goode died peacefully in Charlotte, NC on April 5, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old.
Barby was born on April 27, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Raymond Dudley Ross, Jr and Mary Virginia Stegeman Ross. She was raised in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky and graduated from Highlands High School in 1958. She went on to attend Sweet Briar College where she graduated in 1962. In addition to her parents, Barby was preceded in death by her brother Raymond Dudley Ross, III and her sister Mary Kenyon Ross Baker.
Barby married her husband David on December 28, 1962. They settled in Charlotte where they raised their family and have been life-long members of Christ Episcopal Church.
Barby was thoughtful, kind, and caring and was always putting others ahead of herself. She cherished her many friendships, and her Church but it was her family that filled her heart and life with joy.
Barby is survived by her husband of 63 years, David Johnson Goode and by her daughters, Anne Goode White and her husband Bobby and Amy Goode Jones and her husband Greg. Left to cherish and continue their Nano's legacy are her pride and joy, her seven grandchildren, William Goode White, David Ross White, Andrew McLean White, Margaret Ross Jones, Caroline Kenyon Jones, Anne Davis Jones and William Thaddeus Jones. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Susan and Dan Batten, sister-in-law Carolyn Ross and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she deeply loved and who loved her very much.

The family is very thankful for the staff and wonderful nurses at Briar Creek Health Center and Dr. JP McBryde and the nurses at VIA Health Partners/Hospice. Special thanks to her caregivers, Dotty Lacy and Katrina Germain and Esmerelda Alejo.
A service to celebrate Barby's life will take place at Christ Episcopal Church at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 27, 2026 with the committal following the service.

Barby is my beloved aunt on my father’s side. Yes, she was devoted to her family, and we all loved Beebs. Every Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, and birthday, without fail, she sent us and manymany others an old fashioned greeting card, and most years would commemorate some other special occasion. Oh, we’re going to miss those cards! If you have stock in Hallmark Cards, sell now because they’ve lost their most loyal customer.
Barby Goode had impossibly BLUE eyes, and on the dance floor, she and David could cut a rug in perfect harmony. She was a great aunt/ lady/ friend, and this sad separation is only tolerable because of Lord Jesus’s resurrection and the greatest reunion in His eternal Kingdom Come…….

A cherished friend for over 70 years. The laughs and stories of great friendship will last even in Heaven . The Ross family is rooted deep in our St Andrews Episcopal Church of Fort Thomas KY. What lucky children and grandchildren she and David helped place in this world. I miss your voice already!
