Nanette Aderholdt Temple

CHARLOTTE – Nanette Aderholdt Temple, 88, of Matthews, NC died Sunday, August 31, 2025. She was born in Hickory, NC to the late David Miles Aderholdt and Marie Rudisill Aderholt.

Nanette grew up in Henry River, NC. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Lenoir-Rhyne College. She spent her early years as an elementary school teacher and later when her girls were older, worked as an elementary school secretary at Rama Road Elementary and Lansdowne Elementary. Nanette’s favorite role was that of a faithful and loving wife to her husband Sam, and a caring mother and later a doting grandmother. She was a proud homemaker cooking dinner, baking and sewing. Along with her family, God and faith were the most important things to Nanette. She faithfully attended church every Sunday and served in many ways in the church. She also participated in many clubs and hobbies. Over the years, she was a member of Junior Woman’s Club of Charlotte, the Stonehaven Garden Club and several bridge clubs. Her favorite hobbies were reading and walking, which she did almost every day. 

Nanette was a lifelong Lutheran, formerly at Mt. Hebron Lutheran Church in Hildebran, NC and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Charlotte. She attended Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte when they moved to Matthews. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Samuel (Sam) Temple. She is survived by daughters Lisa T. Pierce and husband Keith and Dana T. Byron and her husband Bill; grandchildren Kathryn Byron, Nathalie Valverde, William Byron, Jr. and Sebastian Valverde, and sisters Janice Simpson and Faye Poteat. She was predeceased by her sister Rita Mull. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 15, 2025, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
