Litsa Poulos

August 7, 2025
HUNTERSVILLE – Litsa Poulos, 71, of Denver, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved daughter of Konstantinos and Eleni Koutsampasi, born on February 14, 1954, in Stipsi, on the island of Lesvos, Greece.
Litsa was married for 52 years to her beloved husband, Jim Poulos, whom she met in Athens, Greece. Immigrating to Atlanta, GA, she worked as a talented seamstress for Brooks Brothers and often worked alongside her husband and contributed to family businesses. She built a beautiful life centered around family, tradition, and community. Litsa was known for her strong work ethic, her exuberance and welcoming personality. After 14 years in Atlanta, and 18 years in Matthews, NC, Litsa relished living on the lake in Denver, NC, surrounded by her loving family, for the last 18 years. A proud yiayia, Litsa cherished her role as mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother to her three grandchildren – Alexzander (18), Stella (13), and Maddox (10). She found great joy in being present in their lives, including their numerous sporting events. Her greatest accomplishment was her family, and she is remembered as a very giving and loving person who welcomed many into her extension of family and friends. No one was a stranger to Litsa. Her doors in both Greece and the US were always open for drop in visits, family dinners, weekend barbeques, and birthday celebrations. She was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Church and a pillar of her community, including being a board member of the Ladies Society of the Adelphotis Arahoviton Karyae.
Litsa is survived by her husband, Jim Poulos; her children, Andreas (Lina), Kostas, and Demetres (Rosa); her grandchildren, Alexzander, Stella, and Maddox; her brothers, Georgios and Michali; her sister, Kalliope and many extended family members and dear friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, generosity, and love for family will never be forgotten.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
May Her Memory Be Eternal.

I just heard this sad news. I live in a small town outskirts of London, Ontario Canada where many of Jim's beloved first cousins live. I'm the daughter of Maria Theodorakakis Milles. We spent a wonderful summer together in the wonderful Greek village. Her smile contagious. I always thought we'd all meet again. I will cherish my memories ? May her memory be eternal

Poulos family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Litsa was an amazing and loving person. I am so lucky to have known her and more importantly, I think of her as a second mother. Thinking back of core memories, she is in many of them. My heart hurts for Jimmy, Andreas, Demetrius, and Kostas and all the grandchildren and spouses. Praying that you all find peace knowing that one day you all will be reunited.

Litsa will always be a cherished memory for me as she blessed this world with three beautiful young men, and was the best woman for her husband. Please, Jimmy and sons, receive my deepest condolences for your loss. My oldest son, Philip, was like an adopted son to Litsa and he held her in highest respect. I'm glad I knew her.
