CHARLOTTE – Birshal Blanche Williams Poole died on Friday, May 9, 2025, at age 97.  She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed a lifetime with family and friends.

Birshal was born in Autryville, N.C., daughter of Lloyd Robert Williams and Roetta Starling Williams. Early in life pursuing her education was a priority.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (now UNC Greensboro).  Post-graduation she worked as a registered dietician before making a full-time commitment to raising her family.

Birshal was an avid supporter of the Charlotte Symphony, Opera Carolina, Delhom Service League, Charity League of Charlotte, First Presbyterian Church Women of the Church and the North Carolina Dental Society.  Birshal loved playing the piano.  Her aunt taught her to play by ear, and she would often play her favorite songs for her family.

Birshal had bouts with two different types of cancer and without question cancer lost both times. She was a fighter and tough as nails.  Every year her children, Birshal’s Bunch, walk for charity to honor her determination and toughness.

Birshal is survived by her four children, Jan Poole, Beth Poole, Robert Poole and his wife, Tracy, and Nancy Jackson all of Charlotte.  Also surviving are her two grandchildren, Brandon Poole and his wife, Lauren, of London, England and Kristen Poole of Charlotte and many nieces, nephews, cousins and sister-in-law.  All of whom will miss her greatly.  In addition to her parents, three siblings and son-in-law, Birshal was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Howard Poole, Jr. of 71 years.

A service to celebrate Birshal’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte.  The family will receive friends following the service in the Wood Fellowship Hall at the church.
