CHARLOTTE – Mary Morgan Dwelle passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025.  Born in Charlotte, NC on March 3, 1947, she was the beloved daughter of the late Harriette Culp Dwelle and John Myers Dwelle and the granddaughter of her namesake Mary Myers Dwelle.

Mary was a graduate of Myers Park High School and the University of South Carolina.  She had a long successful career in the insurance industry with The Rutherfoord Company.  She was baptized, confirmed, and married in Christ Episcopal Church.

Mary loved to garden and was happiest digging among her flowers and vegetables.  She excelled in the culinary arts especially if she was preparing her own homegrown veggies and if you were lucky, she would bake you a pie.  Above all, she treasured all things old and spent hours searching for antique oyster plates, art, and beautiful discontinued china.  She also participated in competition ballroom dancing for many years.

Mary is survived by her sisters, Harriette Dwelle Powell (Larry) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Joy Dwelle Wyatt of Charlotte, NC as well as many more nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by her brother, John Myers Dwelle, Jr. and her sister, Sara Dwelle Klatt.

The family is so very grateful for the loving care Mary received at The Sharon from all the residents and staff and the hospice care from Via Health Partners.

A reception for friends and family will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 21, 2025, at The Sharon of South Park.  A private family ceremony to honor Mary will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Mary to Via Health Partners, 7845 Little Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28226 or a charity of the donor’s choice.
