CHARLOTTE –   William Robert Allen, Jr., 75, died February 10, 2025, at his home in Charlotte.

A Charlotte native, Bobby was born November 27, 1949 at Presbyterian Hospital, son of the late Aileen Barnette Allen and William Robert Allen, Sr.  Bobby’s parents separated early in his life and he became a loving and caring son to his mother and would continue to live with her until her death in 2007.   He attended both Matthews Elementary, Matthews Junior High School and graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1969.

In 1971 Bobby was called into service by the US Army which he served for the next two years.  While in the Army he spent time at both Fort Jackson and Fort Carson where he was assigned to a communications unit.  Following his Army service, Bobby returned to Charlotte working at a variety of jobs.  He studied automotive courses at CPCC and worked with his Dad’s company, CM Allen Construction where he would travel to jobsites all over the southeast.  Bobby also did restoration work and worked in the automotive industry.  He retired 2011.

Bobby grew up at Sardis Presbyterian Church and later became active at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Carmel Road.  It was there that his loving attitude and sweet spirit was embraced by the members. He was kind to everyone, and he found many lasting friendships in that congregation. He truly had a beautiful heart.  Bobby also found fellowship as a third generation Shriner in the Oasis Temple of Charlotte.

Every Sunday, Bob would greet everyone at church. No matter the weather, Bob would lift your spirits as he welcomed you each Sunday at church. I got to know Bob over the years as he became a dear friend. His pure heart and willingness to always help others have made a lasting impression on my life. He will be missed by our church community.
