Richard Bronson Booth

CHARLOTTE – Richard Bronson Booth died peacefully surrounded by family Saturday, January 11, 2025, at The Cypress Stewart Health Center of Charlotte.

Rick was born February 22, 1936, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Charlotte.  He was the son of the late Harvey Bronson Booth and Eleanor Binford Booth.  He was educated in The Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, graduating from Myers Park High School in 1954 and Presbyterian College in 1958.

In 1961, he married Fefe Massey and began his career in the hardware business.  In 1983, he opened Quail Hardware of Charlotte and remained there until retirement.

Rick volunteered for 12 years at Friendship Trays, delivering meals to those in the Charlotte community.  He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, a former member of Charlotte Country Club and Blowing Rock Country Club.  He loved spending time with family at the beach and the mountains, the mountains being his favorite.

Rick is survived by his wife of 63 years, Fefe; his children, Richard Bronson Booth, Jr. and his wife, Lee, and Elizabeth Booth Bivens and her husband, Scott; five grandchildren, William Scott Bivens and his wife, Avery, Robert Ellison Bivens, Mary Kennon Bivens, Richard Benjamin Booth, Cameron Bronson Booth; great-grandson, William Scott Bivens, Jr. and nephew, Julien Binford Booth.  Also surviving are his close companion and dear family friend, Jeremy Cherokee Grissett and sister-in-law, Esther Massey Prince.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel William Booth.

The family of Mr. Booth would like to thank the hospice nurses, especially Nanette Norman, as well as the extraordinary care team on River Birch at the Stewart Health Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Christ Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the Blue Room at the church.  The service will be livestreamed at:  https://christchurchcharlotte.org/watch-live-funerals/ for those unable to attend in person.
