CHARLOTTE – Kathleen Ann Carter of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the age of 60.  Daughter of Eugene Larence Kelley and Virginia Allen Jolley Kelley, she was born on October 23, 1964, in Hollister, California.

She graduated from San Benito High School in 1981 and spent many of the following years working at her parent’s auto parts store, Kelley’s Auto Parts, in Hollister, California.

In July of 2011, Kathleen and two of her children moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where she met the love of her life, Terry Dale Carter.  They were married on September 28, 2013, and together had several pets: Taco, Lily, Momo, Courtney, Mia, and Max.

Kathleen was known as an extremely hard-worker and spent 13 years employed at David Long Electrical in Matthews, North Carolina.  She was also a highly respected independent tax preparer.

Those fortunate enough to know Kathleen will forever remember her feisty energy, her witty sense of humor, and the deep, unconditional love she shared with her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched. Kathleen was an extraordinary wife and mother, with her children being what she would consider her greatest achievements.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Terry Dale Carter; her sons, Jordan Timothy Hopcroft and Jeremy Craig Hopcroft, and her daughter, Brittany Diane Hopcroft and her brothers, Don Kelley and Larry Kelley.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Larence Kelley and Virginia Allen Jolley Kelley; her sister, Diane Kelley, and her brothers, Darrell Kelley and Pete Kelley.

A private service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice to help support a cure for cancer.
