Katina G. Antoniou

May 27, 2024
CHARLOTTE – Katina G. Antoniou, lovingly known as Kathy, peacefully joined her beloved husband, George T. Antoniou, in heaven on Monday, May 27, 2024.
Katina's journey began in Greece, where she faced the hardship of losing her mother at a young age. Despite this, she raised her siblings and managed the household with grace and resilience. At the age of 20, she married George, and soon after, they welcomed their two children. In the late 1960s, Katina and George made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States, supported by her older brother, Andrew J. Apostolopoulos.
In her new home, Katina continued to nurture her family and embraced a wonderful, loving life with her husband. While adapting to American life, she preserved her rich cultural heritage and deep beliefs, becoming a cornerstone of the Greek immigrant community in Charlotte. She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and played a significant role in the Greek families spread throughout the Carolinas.
Katina G. Antoniou brought immense joy and love to those around her. Her positive influence touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met. Katina’s departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of her family and the entire community that knew and loved her. The world is a lesser place without Katina, but her spirit and legacy will continue to inspire and guide those she left behind.
Katina is survived by her cherished daughter, Maria Al Ashban, and her devoted son, Tom G. Antoniou, along with their spouses and families. She was a proud grandmother to six amazing grandsons and a great-grandmother to six wonderful great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister, Dina Beligrinis, and her family, as well as her brother, Nick J. Apostolopoulos.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Katina to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 600 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.
May Her Memory Be Eternal.
