Drew Robinson Smith
November 19, 2023
CHARLOTTE- Drew Robinson Smith, 55, passed away at home on Sunday, November 19, 2023. He was born at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte on July 26, 1968, and lived most of his life in Charlotte. Drew graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1986 and attended St. Andrews University.
Drew considered Charlotte and Charleston, SC his homes. He spent many years in the restaurant business in both cities and considered Isle of Palms his favorite beach location and Mount Pleasant his favorite town.
Drew was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and lover of music. Those that knew him remember Tom Petty was one of his favorite musicians – so much so that Drew and his friends convinced a group of people in college that he and “Uncle Tom” were related.
Drew was a cherished father, son, brother, and friend to many. He is survived by his parents, Helen Howard of Charlotte, and Ronald Smith and his spouse, Joyce Sansing, of Athens, GA; his brothers, Derek Smith of Gastonia, and Justin Smith of Portland, OR; his daughters, Christopher Smith of Fort Mill, and Lillie Smith and her partner, Brandon Smith, of Greenville, SC; stepdaughter, Kelsey Griffin of Charlotte and her son, Jack.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1001 Queens Road in Charlotte. Pastor Tim McKenzie will preside.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Drew’s memory be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 1001 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC 28207, https://onrealm.org/saintmarkscharlotte/Give.

Drew was on my mind the past couple of days and so I looked him up on Facebook intending to message him. I was shocked to learn of his passing. I met Drew when he applied for a job. Drew was a great member of my team and was always smiling or making everyone laugh. His good looks and charming personality were good for business as well..
. I wish so badly that I had reached out earlier. I will always remember him and the joy he brought to our team and our customers alike. The world is a poorer place without him. ❤️
