Charles "Charlie" Michaels
October 23, 2023
CHARLOTTE – Charles “Charlie” Michaels passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, from an unexpected cardiac event. He was born on October 11, 1966, in Charlotte, North Carolina to Basil Charles Michaels and Elaine Matalas Michaels.
As a native Charlottean, Charlie was a proud graduate of Charlotte Catholic (‘84) and lettered in four sports in his senior year; Football, Basketball, Tennis, and Track. He eventually chaired both the Alumni and Athletic Association Boards while also volunteering many hours. Charlie attended the College of Charleston on a basketball scholarship and earned a biology degree.
Charlie and his wife, Michelle, met while bartending post-college in Charlotte. Soon after, they were wed in November 1992 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where he and his family were longtime members. They spent the next five years living in the Washington, D.C. area before moving back to Charlotte to start a family. Catie was born in June of 1999 and Allie was born in July of 2001. Charlie was an excellent and attentive father, who loved his whole family dearly. He was an avid golfer and enthusiastic member of Raintree Country Club where he had many good times with his family and friends.
Charlie had a lengthy sales career that led to his concentration in Management Consulting. His most recent position was as Director at Centric Consulting Charlotte with his partner, TJ Felice. He valued his client relationships and prided himself on selling the relationship itself, not just the product.
Charlie served as chairman of the James J. Harris YMCA Board where his daughters danced throughout their childhood and his wife is currently a cherished ballet teacher. While involved at the YMCA, Charlie performed in their annual Nutcracker Ballet and in many years of daddy daughter recital dances. His most recent Board position was with the Matthews Help Center, a cause he deeply believed in.
Charlie is survived by his loving his wife of 30 years, Michelle; his two daughters, Caitlin “Catie” (24) and Allison “Allie” (22); sister, Teri Michaels, and several family members around the Washington, D.C. area. He is also survived by his nephews, Jason and Matt Norman; nieces, Clare and Jolie Turner; brother-in-law, Mark Norman and his wife Amy; sister-in-law, Melisa Turner and her husband, Mark and mother-in-law, Connie Norman.
A celebration of life will take place at 5:00 PM on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Raintree Country Club, 8600 Raintree Lane, Charlotte, NC. Please dress casually and prepare to raise a toast to our beloved husband, father, and friend. If you wish to share a favorite memory or story of him, a microphone and podium will be provided.
***ALL FLOWERS MUST BE DELIVERED TO RAINTREE COUNTRY CLUB.***

Michelle, Catie, Allie: We are so sorry for Charlie's sudden passing. He was such a great man -- funny, smart, a hard worker, and good Catholic. He was employee number five at NouvEON, and he brought such a life and energy to us. Even as he went to work with our "competitors" with great guys like Pepper and the other T.J., he just knew how to surround himself with great people. That's because he was such a great person. We just wanted to say thank you for sharing Charlie with us as we are all better off knowing and spending time with him. I will miss him greatly. Our daily prayers are with you during these most difficult days and the road ahead. I know Charlie is in Heaven and will continue to provide you with his love from above. Many prayers for your healing and may you feel the community of love around you.

Well, where do I even begin. Michelle, Catie and Allie. My deepest sympathy to you three. Michelle, Your husband, and Girls, your father was a special man. I was friends with him from kindergarten, through 12th grade, and further. He was always there, and I could always count on his smile and his memory, reminding me of times past. I will miss him dearly, and will cherish the times we had together in life.
May God always protect you doing this time, and May His Memory Always Be Eternal! -
Charlie was one of the kindest, most welcoming, joyful humans that I was lucky to know. His love for Michelle, Catie and Allie was tremendous and they were his absolute everything. Charlie will be sorely missed. Especially that smile, his laugh and overall joy for life. He is gone too soon but will remain forever in all of the hearts that he touched.
