Harry Turner Johnson

Harry Turner Johnson, 61, of Charlotte died March 3, 2023 at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital. Harry was born in Wilmington, DE, son of Frederick Short Johnson, Jr. and Carolyn Louise Turner Johnson. He graduated from Myers Park High School and enjoyed a career as an auto mechanic.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Ann Cristie Johnson and his fiancé, Anne Barker. Harry enjoyed his vegetable garden, fishing on Lake Wylie, going to Ocean Isle Beach with Anne, and camping with Bonnie in the mountains with his family. He was always a kind and gentle man.

Harry is survived by his son, Doug T. Johnson of Charlotte; two sisters, Margaret Prim and her husband, Jack and Cissy Carr and her husband, Michael; and a brother, Fred Johnson and his wife, Louise.

A service to celebrate Harry’s life will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, March 19, 2023 in the Belk Chapel at Queens University with Dr. Wesley Barry officiating.

Memorials can be sent to the Charlotte Rescue Mission, 907 W. 1st Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.

    Today is your birthday,
    While I did not know you well back in the day, both you and Ann were constantly very conversant and engaging after online connections brought the classes of ‘80 (& other yrs) together for regular gatherings. In this darker world we have endured, you remained an ally, and a friend until you were taken to that better place. Much appreciated.

    Dear family, gus and I are so sorry for Harry's passing. Much too young, too many fishing and beach trips left for him. I remember his smile and laughing eyes. He will be missed.
