LANCASTER, SC - Johnnie Bukovich Robinson
October 16, 1939 - December 1, 2021, 82 years old
Born in Clintwood, VA to John & Mildred Bukovich.
Johnnie (aka Peaches) was a kind, gentle, fun loving person, who never met a stranger. She loved her family and truly devoted her life to them. She enjoyed reading, a good TV show, Movies at the Theater and any activity that involved her kids or grandkids. She also loved cooking and family meals and made biscuits and gravy from scratch for family, the week before her passing. Her kitchen was never quiet, filled with her talking or humming.
Johnnie lived a humble childhood, that included residence in Hampton on the coast of Virginia and Clintwood in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. She relished her relationship with her Brother Fuzzy, Grandmother, Aunts, Uncles and many Cousins.
Johnnie graduated from Hampton High School and enjoyed a brief time at Lincoln Memorial University. She returned to Clintwood, and attended classes at Clinch Valley College, where she met the love of her life, Jackie Wayne Robinson.
They married in 1961 and lived in Northern Virginia and Johnson City Tennessee, before ultimately finding their home in Lancaster South Carolina in 1972, where she lived until her passing. Johnnie was a stay at home mom for many years. Once her children reached later elementary school, she showed her caring nature for others be serving as a Teaching Assistant in various Lancaster County schools for 20 years.
She spent many years as a member of the Good Shepard Methodist Church and more recently joined Grace Presbyterian Church, both in Lancaster.
Johnnie is survived by her loving brother, Fuzzy Bukovich of Hampton, VA; daughter, Paula English and husband Sam of Greenville, SC; son John Robinson and wife Beth of Charlotte, NC and three grandchildren that she truly adored, Matthew English and Logan & Haley Robinson.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Robinson and her parents, John and Mildred Bukovich.
Due to Covid-19, a celebration of Johnnie’s life will be delayed.

We are so sorry to hear of the sad news of Johnnie's passing. We lived beside Jack and Johnnie and watched them build their beautiful home. After Jack passed away, I cut Johnnie's grass for a good number of years.
Both Jack and Johnnie were great people in the inside and out. May your rest in peace Johnnie Robinson. Go high on that mountain, your work here on earth is done. -
Johnnie was such a delight. Being her neighbor and coming from Southwest Virginia was extra special. She would stop in the road and chat about the areas any time we were working in our yard. So sorry to hear of her passing. She loved to talk about her grandchildren. She will be missed. Prayers for all.

I enjoyed so much being around your mom at school and sometimes at breakfast with retired teachers. We laughed a lot and just had the best time. I remember someone went on a trip with her and they met a soldier in the airport and Jonnie thanked him for his service and paid for his lunch. Such a truly genuinely kind and giving person. I know y’all will miss her as all of those who knew her will.

John and Paula, I extend my condolences to you and your families. Growing up in the 80’s at North Elementary School were very special to me because not only was I classmates and friends with John, but Mrs. Robinson came into my life and made me feel like I was her favorite student. I have and will treasure those memories always. Mrs. Robinson always had a special and great Spirit about herself and will truly be missed by all. God bless each and every one of you!

Paula and John, Nancy and I were very saddened to hear this news. We had seen her and talked to her at Grace Presbyterian the morning she joined the church. We had visited there before and seen her then. Your Mom was so much fun to be around. We always laughed about her and Anita getting locked out of the hotel room in Boston when they visited us when I was in treatment at Boston Medical. She will be missed especially by you all, but by us as well. She and Jack were great friends.
