Martha, I was shocked this morning when I opened The State Paper and learned that John had died. So many memories from the Industrial Commission kept running through my mind today. In later years when I was court reporting and John would be in the building for a hearing, and he would stick his head in our door to smile...he had such a great smile...and say hello. He will be greatly missed. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

John and I were room mates in the Coast Guard in Portsmouth Virginia. We became best friends very quickly in 1966. Those years were filled with many memories that were never forgotten. For 57 years when we would talk or see each other it was like we had seen each other the day before. John was a true Southern Gentleman, a die hard Gamecock fan, and a devout Conservative. The world is better having had John Woods!
