I was saddened to learn today of Robert’s passing. I worked with Bob for several years and considered him a dear friend. He was an intelligent, sweet gentleman; and I loved our conversations. He had a fabulous sense of humor and a love of home design which we shared. My thoughts and prayers, as well as my deepest sympathy is with his family and friends.

When we renovated our Laburnum Avenue house, we lived on Shenandoah Avenue for five months. I wasn't far from home but missed my daily interactions with our fabulous neighbors five blocks away. Well, that lonesomeness was greatly alleviated by Bob's welcoming and friendly nature. He made me and my children feel like lifelong residents of his block, always taking time to say hello on our way to the bus stop up the block and chatting about all the little details of our neighborhood life. I loved every encounter, and in the many years since we moved back, I made a point of having that block of Shenandoah on my walks in hopes (often realized) of further meet-ups. Bob's kind and easy-going personality sparkled. He is the kind of person that makes a neighborhood feel like home.
