CHARLOTTE – Walter Tuck Parkerson, Jr., 61, of Charlotte, NC went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, November 12, 2021.  Born on Tuesday, October 11, 1960, he was the son of Walter Tuck and Ruth (Dowdy) Parkerson.

“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not weary. They will walk and not faint.”

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Ruth Parkerson of Charlotte and two brothers, James D. “Jim” Parkerson of Charlotte and William L. Parkerson of Seattle, WA, a sister, Anne Coddington of Arlington, VA.  He was preceded in death by his father, Walter T. Parkerson.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held 12:30 PM on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 Forest Lawn Drive in Matthews, NC.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dear, Jim, Will, and Anne, I wanted to let each of you and Ruth know how very sorry I am to hear of Walter’s death. There aren’t words to express my feelings and concerns for each of you. Since the Pandemic, I have not gone to any of the care facilities therefore have not seen Ruth in much too long. I do not know how to contact you so am sending my thoughts and prayers to you that Walter is now resting in God’s loving arms and that you are finding peace in the fact that now Walter is at rest. I left my phone number at Asbury. God be with you now and always. Tucker

One word crystallizes my memory of Walter Parkerson: laughter.

We were friends since AG, and I can't count the nights we spent sitting by the pool at my mom's complex on Hedgemore Drive for hours, talking and laughing and laughing.

Walter brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Walter was a dear friend to our family. He was present when I met my husband Will, and did everything he could to make our lives happy. He helped us through out all of our trials and tribulations. He was a babysitter for our son, Alex. He helped us grieve and process our beautiful boy’s passing. I will miss Walter’s kind acts and generosity. His giant heart and humanity will be remembered and missed by me and everyone he touched. Love you, Walter!?? Have fun dancing with all those you are greeting again in heaven above.

A wonderful obituary. Walter would be so pleased. You three siblings have come together and honored Walter so well! We enjoyed our time with you this week. We have great memories of our times on Wickersham/Stanwyck. Let us know the time and date of the services.
    Love and prayers for all,
    Linda and Rex
