Cheryl Denise Landers

September 12, 2021

CHARLOTTE – Cheryl Denise Landers went home to be with the Lord Sunday evening, September 12, 2021.  She was born in Australia on July 30, 1962 to the late Charles Everette and Lena Mae (Larkins) Landers during the time her father was serving in the United States Air Force.  She spent her childhood and adult life in Charlotte.

Cheryl graduated from Queens University in Charlotte with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sacred Music and shared her love for this music with her church family at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church.  Her passion for her church played an integral role in her life while serving the Lord which was recognized by all who knew her.  At church she played piano and assisted in leading the Special Needs Adult Class and especially enjoyed assisting with the Wednesday night preschool children’s choir.  Cheryl worked as a data specialist with Wells Fargo Bank for twenty-three years.  Through her many years of service her supervisor described her as being as a dedicated and engaged employee who was loved by all.  Cheryl’s kind and gentle spirit touched all those around her where she had a listening ear to anyone who needed to share their problems, thoughts and concerns.

Cheryl is survived by her devoted sister, Andrea Lynn Landers of Charlotte, NC.

A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be 3:00 PM Sunday afternoon, September 19, 2021 at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Stan Heiser officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church with committal services to be held 1:00 PM Monday afternoon, September 20, 2021 at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill, NC.

Cheryl will be deeply missed by her loving family and all those that knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered on behalf of Cheryl to Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church, 1117 South Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28203.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

Cheryl was one of my best friends. She loved doing simple arts and crafts making things for every holiday and mailing them to her friends.
I think she mailed a card for almost every holiday on the calendar! She was kind, thoughtful, and always ready to join whatever activity friends came up with. She not only used her musical talent at Pritchard Memorial Baptist, she also played the piano a while for Craig Avenue ARP church which is where I met her years ago when I joined the choir there. Miss you Cheryl!

Cheryl will truly be missed at Wells Fargo. We all loved the little gifts she would make for us on each holiday along with cookies and treats ALL the time!! I have been a part of her life since I begin at WF in 2015. I truly adored Miss Cheryl and know she's a Shining Star in heaven right alongside my Mom, Dad and Grandparent's! Take care Andrea and let us know if you need anything going forward! :):)
