Clara Best Booth

Clara Best Booth, 82, of Charlotte, NC died April 3, 2021 at Atrium Heath Main. Clara was born in Mullins, SC, daughter of Leroy and Earnestine Harrelson Best. She had a career that included working at Ivey’s Department Store, the Democratic Headquarters in Charlotte and as secretary for the late, B. Everett Jordan. She also worked in the Tax Office of Mecklenburg County for over twenty years. Clara was a member of the Eastern Star and First Baptist Church for many years.

Clara was preceded in death in 2000 by her husband, John Charles Booth. She is survived by a son, Bill Booth and his wife. Georgia; granddaughter, Margaret Booth; brother-in-law and his wife, Harry and Judy Booth; brother, William Ted Best and his wife, Karline and a sister, Mary Ruth Reeves and her husband, George; nephew, John David Booth and nieces, Gloria Cabel and Lynn Nealey. In addition to her husband, Clara was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Ralph Best.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at East City Church. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Elmwood Cemetery.

She will be remembered for her sweet smile and gentle ways, and we will keep her and her family in our hearts and prayers.
