Kenneth Poe Funeral Services

CHARLOTTE – William Carl Shiffler passed away quietly in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, after a short illness and complications from a fall a few days earlier.  He was 72 years old. 

Born in Toledo, (Lucas County) Ohio, he was the son of the late William Richard Shiffler and the late Betty Ellen Shiffler, both of Toledo.  He grew up in Toledo, was a graduate of Bowsher HS, and The University of Toledo where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.   He had lived in Charlotte for 34 years where he worked as a ramp agent for Piedmont Air, US Air and finally American Airlines.  An enthusiastic spectator of sports of all kinds, Bill also enjoyed playing golf.  A kind hearted and faithful friend. 

Bill had no children or grandchildren and is survived by his sister, Carol Ann Pettit (Peter), nephew, Jeffrey William Pettit and best friend and partner, Kathy Worrell Shiffler.

A memorial service for Bill will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the Francis Chapel at Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
