September 30, 2026
Doris Reece Walker of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on September 19, 1933, in Charlotte, the daughter of Ernest Victor Reece and Sallie Matthews Reece.

Mrs. Walker was truly like a second mother to me growing up just down the street from Jimmy and Nancy. I will always remember her kindness, thoughtfulness, and the genuine love and concern she showed not only for her own children, but for all of us who were fortunate enough to be welcomed into her home. She always had our best interests at heart and made us feel like part of the family.
Looking back on those wonderful childhood years, I realize how blessed I was to have Mrs. Walker as such a caring and positive influence in my life. She was a special lady, and I will always cherish those memories.
My heartfelt condolences to Jimmy, Nancy, and the entire Walker family. May you find comfort in knowing how many lives she touched and how fondly she will always be remembered.
With love and gratitude,
Peter Hitchens
