 CHARLOTTE - Nancy Sue Thames, 89, of Charlotte, North Carolina, died peacefully on September 15, 2026, at Sharon Towers in Charlotte.

Born June 1, 1937, she was the daughter of William Luther Thames, Jr. and Sue Franklin Mock Thames. A native of Charlotte, she graduated from Central High School in 1955 and The Woman's College of The University of North Carolina (now UNC Greensboro) in 1959. She had a long career in textiles, working for Celanese and Collins & Aikman.

She is survived by her nephew, Mr. L. David Thames, Jr., and his wife, Katherine Crabtree Thames of Charlotte; her niece, Anne Morris Thames Rowlee, and her husband, David Donald Rowlee of Overland Park, KS; her great nieces and nephew, Ellen Fitzpatrick Thames, Vivian Claire Rowlee, and William David Thames; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Thames.

Her brothers, Larry David Thames and William "Billy" Franklin Thames, preceded her in death.

Her funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5th, in the Francis Chapel at Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC 28207, where she was a member.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sharon Towers Resident Assistance Fund, 5100 Sharon Road, Charlotte, NC 28210.
