Brian Patrick Murray

June 21, 2025
CHARLOTTE – It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Brian Patrick Murray, who left this world far too soon on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 41. He was surrounded by his loving family, his wife, Anastasia Speer, his boys, and his family. A devoted father, loving husband, beloved son, loyal friend, and kind soul, Brian touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born and raised in Binghamton, NY, Brian was the cherished son of Terrence and Dorothy Murray and the loving brother of Michael (Erin). He also had deep bonds with his Uncles Dan (Jude) and Kevin (Rene) as well as his cousins. He lived a life filled with love, laughter, and purpose. Though his time was short, he filled it with meaning. He was a steady presence to those he loved, always quick to offer help, greeted everyone with a warm smile, or to lend a listening ear. His sense of humor, humility, and deep empathy were just a few of the many reasons people were drawn to him.
A proud graduate of SUNY Geneseo, Brian built a successful career in finance at Bank of America in Charlotte, NC, where he worked for nearly 20 years. It was there, as part of the FMAP program, that he met Anastasia, the beginning of a love story that would define the rest of his life.
Over the next 18 years, Brian and Anastasia built a life full of laughter, friendship, and community. Saturdays were often spent at Clemson football games or hosting friends—always with Brian behind the grill or stove, doing what he loved: cooking for the people he cared about.
Above all else, Brian was a father and a devoted husband. His children and wife were the light of his life, and he poured every ounce of himself into giving them love, guidance, and unforgettable memories. To know Brian was to feel seen, heard, and cared for. While the loss is immeasurable, so is the legacy of compassion and resilience he leaves behind. We will carry him with us in the stories we tell, the ways we show up for each other, and in the quiet moments that remind us of his enduring love.
But his greatest joy by far was being a father. Brian was a devoted and playful dad to Liam (10) and Colin (7), coaching their baseball teams, cheering them on, and filling their home with warmth, wisdom, and fun. He was also a proud dog dad to Bentley and Charlie, whom he and Anastasia raised as puppies early in their life together.
Brian is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Teresa Murray and John and Marion Lynn; his uncle Timothy and aunt Jane; and his dear cousins, Rod and Collin.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on July 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with receiving beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to 529 Education Plans established for Liam and Colin. Donations, made out to Liam & Colin Murray can be sent to David Raichle, Trustee. 1800 Fair Forest Drive, Matthews, NC 28105. Venmo: @Anastasia-Speer
