CHARLOTTE - Betsy Coleman Ullrich, born in Rochester, NY and a beloved resident of Charlotte, North Carolina for many years, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025 at the age of 82. She was a woman of grace, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Betsy was born on September 27, 1942, and spent much of her life in Charlotte, where she built a home filled with cherished memories alongside her late husband, Dr. Christopher G. Ullrich. Chris, a distinguished radiologist who served the Charlotte community for 38 years before his retirement in 2020, preceded her in death on August 8, 2021. Together, they shared a deep partnership, supporting each other through life’s joys and challenges.
Betsy was a pillar of strength for her family, finding happiness in the simple moments spent with those she loved. Her steadfast presence and gentle spirit will be deeply missed.
Betsy was preceded in death by her husband, Chris, and parents, Glenn and Mabel Coleman. Betsy is survived by her sister, Sally Hopkins, with whom she shared a close bond, and her two nephews, Sean and Jeffrey Hopkins. She also leaves behind a wide circle of friends and extended family who will remember her for her generosity and quiet resilience.
A memorial will be held to honor Betsy’s life at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Resurrection Church located at 2940 Commonwealth Avenue, Charlotte, NC 028205.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a charity close to Betsy’s heart, such as Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte or a deserving animal rescue.
Betsy Ullrich’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace alongside her cherished Chris.
