KANNAPOLIS - Michael O’Brien passed on March 24, 2025. He was the beloved son of Frances and Dennis O’Brien, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Tammy Shaw and her husband Kirk, his niece Raegan Cassady and her husband Jack, his nephew Andrew Shaw and his wife Catherine.  As well as their children, Coleman and Kate Cassady and Reid and Caroline Shaw.  

He’s also survived by his longtime friend, partner and companion, Allison Cole. Mike and Allison had shared their lives for 20 years.  Mike loved Allison’s three Children; Brooke, Amber and Mark and he loved all nine of the grandchildren. 

Michael was in the United States Navy for nearly 4 years, until he was medically discharged because of a severe knee injury.  He spent many years working for Walmart, until he could no longer physically do the job.  He spent the next several years driving for Uber. He enjoyed the time spent with Uber, because of the many different people he met.  

Mike had a gift for talking…. he never met a stranger. He was a great friend to many, and most would tell you he’d give you the shirt off his back.  He was very often the life of the party and was an avid sports fan of all sports but most especially the Carolina Panthers and the Carolina Tar Heels.  

Michael you were loved by so many people, I hope you knew that. We will all miss you.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Dilworth Grille, 911 East Morehead, Charlotte, NC.
