Mrs. Bettye Lee Blair Neal

Bettye Lee Blair Neal departed this life on Monday, November 14, 2022. She had been a resident at Carrington Place Nursing home for the past ten years.

Bettye was born in Danville, Virginia on January 25, 1929 to Edwin Thomas Blair and his wife Lillie May McQueen. Her family moved to Charlotte prior to the beginning of World War II as her father found new employment here. She attended and graduated from Central High School with the Class of ’46.

She married Cecil Truitt Neal in October of 1951 in a double wedding with her older sister Ruth. Cecil and Bettye were both employed with Springs Mills until the birth of their only child Helen Patricia Neal in 1956. “Patty” was a special needs child and Bettye devoted the remainder of her life to caring for her daughter.

Bettye was predeceased by her parents, her two sisters (Ruth Blair Plyler and Helen Marion Blair), her husband Cecil, and her daughter Patty. She is survived by her nephew Edwin Blair Plyler and his wife Ellen.

Services will be private.
