Thomas Poe

Funeral Director

Thomas Poe is a third-generation funeral director committed to continuing his family’s long tradition of serving families in Charlotte with care, professionalism, and integrity. His introduction to funeral service began at an early age through his grandfather, Eli Joyner, at Farmville Funeral Home in Farmville, North Carolina. He later gained a deeper appreciation for the profession while observing his father, Ken Poe, who served for many years as President and General Manager of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home before founding Kenneth Poe Funeral & Cremation Service in 2015.

Growing up around the profession, Thomas developed a strong respect for the responsibility entrusted to funeral directors. Today, he is focused on helping lead the next chapter of the family business—building on the reputation his father established while continuing to expand services that meet the evolving needs of Charlotte families. He is particularly committed to blending the personal attention and trust of a family-owned funeral home with thoughtful innovation and modern options for memorialization.

Thomas graduated from Charlotte Country Day School and Sewanee: The University of the South, and later earned an MBA from Tulane University in New Orleans. Before joining the family business, he spent more than a decade working in real estate in Charlotte, gaining experience in business operations, development, and community relationships.

He is a member of Christ Episcopal Church and remains actively engaged in the Charlotte community. Outside of work, Thomas enjoys fellowship, golf, being on the water, and spending time with his wife and daughters.
