William Doyle Carey

William Doyle Carey, known as Bill, the son of the late Doyle and Ruby Carey, was born on May 31, 1934 in Jasper County, Georgia. He passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019, surrounded by his family in his home.   He will be remembered as a hard-working gentleman, known for his honesty, love for his family, and love for Georgia Football (Go Dawgs!).

He is survived by his wife, Margie Green Carey, of 59 years; three children, Elizabeth Currie (Wesley), Cathy Hovis (Eric), Billy Carey (Gina); and seven grandchildren, Ashton Currie, Rachel Finley (Tyler), Evan Currie, Carey Bradley (Ben), Dillon Carey, Luke Hovis, and Madeline Carey.

He was a graduate of Monticello High School and the University of Georgia earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He also served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Over his career as a sales representative, Bill was employed by American Cyanamid and Sanofi Animal Health where he earned top salesman awards.   He was a member of Charlotte’s First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was an active member of the church and the Senior Adult Men’s Class, who were a great support to him both during health and illness.

Services will be held Thursday February 28, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Davidson Street, Charlotte. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM. Graveside service to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery West.
