I lived across Woodland Drive from the Graham family: Charles (we called him Willie), Donnie, Tommy and Mary Lou. We played a lot of football in their front yard in the Fifties-- camped out in the woods where Eastway Jr. High is now, dammed up the creek--built a swimming hole and a diving platform. Like the Grahams, my family moved out in the County, and Charles and I remained best of friends. He and I double-dated a lot over those years. Charles had a great sense of humor. His father, Don, Sr taught our Sunday School Class at Commonwealth Presbyterian Church(now part of a cloverleaf intersection of Eastway Dr., Commonwealth Ave., and Independence Blvd). Charles had the neatest Popcorn Factory off South Tryon St. in an old Boxcar. I miss our friendship..................I am sure you miss him too, Betty.......................May the Lord come along side you, comfort you, and bring you His Peace. Chuck Wyatt, Flat Rock, NC
