Ellen Louise Foster

Ellen Louise Foster was born March 8, 1953 in Durham, North Carolina. She passed away on June 25, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ellen attended Myers Park High School and graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1975 with a degree in International Studies. She retired in 2015 from Duke Energy after a forty year career.

Ellen was full of life, love and adventure. She traveled the world with her Father, sisters and friends, and took special trips with her nephew and niece. Some of her favorite trips were to London and she regularly traveled to Disney World where she had a vacation club membership.

Ellen was an avid sports fan. She loved the Panthers and her tailgating friends. She followed Braves baseball and volunteered yearly at PGA Golf tournaments. Ellen sky-dived and worked to get her pilot's license. She played in the Christ Lutheran Church hand-bell choir where she developed enduring friendships. Ellen had a great love of history and world geography and could rarely be beat at Trivial Pursuit. She reached the highest Candy Crush level and could beat almost every Sudoku puzzle. Ellen played the violin in high school and loved classical music, good wine, Britain's Got Talent and followed all the news of the Royal Family.

Ellen is predeceased by her Mother, Florence Lockhart Foster, and her Father James Worth Foster. She is survived by her sisters, Susan (Suzi) Foster Battle and Florence Ann Foster, Brother-in-Law Paul Sutton, Nephew James Harrison Battle and wife Sonya Russell Battle and Niece Ellen Kate Foster Battle. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins and friends.

Ellen's Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m. on June 29, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church 4519 Providence Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28226. She will be laid to rest in the columbarium at Christ Lutheran Church. There will be a reception in the lower commons area of the church worship center following the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Christ Lutheran Church, to Sharon Towers or to the charity of your choice.
