Lauren Ashley Duke

July 9, 2016

Heaven welcomed a beautiful new angel on July 9, 2016, when Lauren Ashley Duke left this earth to join her beloved Aunt Vickie. Born on October 31, 1988 in Charlotte, NC to Julie Bowler Duke and David R. Duke, Lauren was a sparkle of energy from the moment she entered this world. She was the middle child with a funny sense of humor and a sense of daring that entertained and challenged her family. Never one to sit still, she loved life and lived every minute of every day with a smile of joy on her face. After graduating from Independence High School she became a Dental Assistant and cherished her career in that field, but the job she loved most was as a mother. She performed magic as "Mommy" to McKaela Ridings (age 5) and Braeden Ridings (age 3) and they adored their quirky and lovely Mom. Lauren was a natural athlete and an ace softball player, loved all things related to fashion, hair design, cosmetics and jewelry and was definitely a "girlie girl." She was a volunteer for Operation Santa's Helpers, collected fantastic children's books for Charlotte Rotary's Birdhouse Library project, and helped each year with her Aunt Vickie's memorial scholarship fund among other charitable works.

Left to miss her terribly and love her forever are her parents, Julie and David Duke; her sister, Karrington (Kari) Duke; her brother, Stefan Duke; her two amazing children (who reflect all the good things that their Mommy taught them) McKaela and Braeden Ridings; her maternal grandparents, Marilynn and Bob Bowler; her paternal grandmother, Peggy Bruce; her maternal aunts, Laura Whitley (Mark) and Elizabeth Bowler; her maternal uncle, Tom Bowler; her paternal aunt, Laurie Duke; her paternal uncle, Jack (Emily) Bruce, as well as her cousins, great aunts and uncles, and a long roster of friends in the Carolinas, Florida, Maryland and in Syracuse and Rochester, New York. She was predeceased by her aunt. Victoria (Vickie) Bowler whom she absolutely adored and with whom she is now happily reunited. We know well that the sorority of "The Great Triumvirate" of Vickie Bowler, Jamie Kimble and Jessica Hodgkins Dovi now has a powerful new member, making it forever more "The Great Quartet." Together in Heaven, they will move mountains.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel Church, 3016 Providence Rd. in Charlotte with Fr. Frank O'Rourke, Pastor, officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Victoria A. Bowler Memorial Scholarship Fund: CPCC Foundation, Attn: Vanessa Stolen, PO Box 35009, Charlotte, NC 28235. (Note: Please include "Victoria Bowler Fund" on your donation).

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth Poe Funeral & Cremation Services, 1321 Berkeley Ave Charlotte NC 28204. Phone: 704 641-7606
