Catherine Kalivas

February 28, 2024

LAKELAND, FL – Catherine Kalivas, a woman of faith and devotion, passed away on February 28, 2024, at the age of 89 in Lakeland, Florida.  She was born on June 5, 1934, in the Bronx, New York, to John and Jenny (Treant) Kalivas.

Catherine was a loving sister to her brother, George Kalivas.  Her life was further enriched by the joy of her own family, as she became the proud mother of Demetra Bennett and Alexander (Christine) Bennett.  Her legacy continued to flourish through the lives of her three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Professionally, Catherine dedicated many years of service as a secretary with the Internal Revenue Service.  Her retirement marked the end of a respected career but also the beginning of new opportunities to engage with her passions and her faith.

A devout member of the Greek Orthodox Church, Catherine's faith was the cornerstone of her existence.  She lived a faith-filled life, embodying the principles of her beliefs through her actions and gentle guidance.  She will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 11, 2024, at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, 5108 Kuykendall Road, Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends thirty minutes before the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

May Her Memory Be Eternal.

    Dear Dimitra and family,

We were blessed to have Catherine as a volunteer in the church office for many years. She was more than a volunteer as she became my friend and would always bring me cookies. May her memory be everlasting + and may God comfort you during this time.

Catherine was very sweet, I have fond memories of her working the front desk.
After the Missals were printed she would fold them and always put one aside for me in case I wasn’t in church.
May Her Memory Be Eternal ?
