Len Peacock

Februrary 27, 2024

CHARLOTTE –  Len Peacock, 80, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

Len was born May 16, 1943, to the late Loran Peacock and Lucille Brown Peacock in Staten Island, New York, where his family had relocated to assist in the war efforts. Although born in New York, Len was raised in Waycross, Georgia, by his loving parents.

Shortly after graduating from Waycross High School in 1961, he joined the Management Training program with S.H. Kress and Company where he met Carolyn Elaine Morris of Augusta, GA.

Len married Carolyn in June of 1965 and after moving to several locations throughout the southeast, they settled in Macon, Georgia where he began his career in the commercial refrigeration business with Graves Refrigeration. They welcomed two of their three children in Macon and sadly had to bury one there as well. Throughout his time with Graves, they moved several times, including time in Albany, GA where they welcomed their third child and eventually settled in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Len was always known for his congenial personality, always having a joke to share, his love of NASCAR, boiled peanuts, brownies, and all things Georgia Bulldogs. His heart was as big as his laugh, helping in any way he could. He consistently put others first and never drew attention to the subtle ways he showed his deep love. He loved God and loved people, the kind of man who would not only share a park bench with you, but his life story as well.

This gentle leader leaves behind a loving family to carry on his legacy of faithfulness: his wife, Carolyn Peacock of Charlotte, NC, son Michael Peacock and Tracey Roberts of Charlotte, NC, daughter Dana Almes and Jason Almes of Huntersville, NC; and his cherished grandchild, Emma. Len is also survived by his brother, Robert Peacock and Melissa of Jessup, Georgia, niece, Lori Jurasheck and Bill of St. Simons Island, GA, Caleb Peacock and Brittany of Waycross, GA and Amanda Peacock of Valdosta, GA.

In addition to his parents, he has joined in heaven, his sister, Yvonne Carroll, his nephew, Dennis Carroll and his son, Stephen.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to: First Baptist Church Charlotte, 301 S. Davidson St, Charlotte, NC 28202, or the Alzheimers Association of Western Carolina, 4600 Park Rd STE 250, Charlotte, NC 28209

A celebration service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Charlotte. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204 (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

Carolyn and family, I remember you and Len when we were at First Baptist together as such a sweet couple and we had children around the same age. Both of you had such lovely smiles. I remember when you moved close to Bill and I near Quail corners.
Praying for God’s infinite love to fill the empty places with His everlasting hope and peace. So sorry for your loss.
