Sylvia Sampson Miller

CHARLOTTE – Sylvia Sampson Miller died Friday, January 12, 2024, at Atrium Health Pineville.  She grew up in Pembroke, NC.  

Mrs. Miller was a graduate of Pembroke State College (University of North Carolina at Pembroke) where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and the honor of Miss Pembroke State.

Mrs. Miller and her family lived in several states during her husband's career, New Jersey being her favorite. She loved all the activities that nearby New York City provided.  The Millers lived in Charlotte from 1984 until present.  They enjoyed traveling to such places as Europe, Australia and many points in between. 

Mrs. Miller is survived by her children, Tracy Lewkowiez and her husband, Eric and Todd Miller and his wife, Jennifer; her grandchildren, Aaron and Nicole Lewkowiez, and Brooke Miller, and her brother, Selwyn Sampson.  She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Bobby Reginald Miller.

Services will be private.

    Tracie and Todd, So sad to learn of your beautiful, talented and loving mother’s passing. My heart hurts for both of you. Both of your parents were very special to me. Losing both of them so close together must be so hard for you to bear. Please know that they will be remembered with love. My deepest concern and sincere sympathies.

    To Sylvia’s (and Bobby’s) family. I am so distressed to learn just now of Sylvia’s death. She and my mother Louise Cooke were the closest of friends at the SHC! Sylvia visited my 102 year old mother’s room every night after dinner, and they talked until bedtime. She will be sorely missed. Such a dear lady. I’m so sorry for your loss and for ours. Sending Much love.
