Todd William McGeorge

January 4, 2024

CHARLOTTE – Todd William McGeorge, 56, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 4, 2024.   He was born in Kalamazoo, MI on January 23, 1967, to Kim John McGeorge and the late Jeanne Marie McGeorge.

Todd grew up in Portage, MI where he engaged in plenty of shenanigans with his brother and friends.  He attended Portage Central High School, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, and Western Michigan University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business.  Todd lived in Chicago for a bit before settling in Charlotte for the past twenty years.  He worked at Bank of America and Family Dollar for many years where he made numerous friends who he regularly kept in touch with.  Most recently he built and opened two Pets Supplies Plus stores in the Charlotte area.

People will remember Todd for how much he loved his dog, Jeter; his music and for being a member of his Chicago band, Dime Box where he was a talented drummer.  He continued playing drums, but Jeter was not a fan.  Many people remember his sign off “Love you more than chicken” when saying goodbye.  He will be missed by so many.

Todd is survived by his father, Kim McGeorge and stepmother, Jeanne Ryskamp of Portage, MI and Port Charlotte, FL and his many aunts, uncles, and cousins around the country.  Also surviving are his long-time friend, Alan Miller of Rapid River, MI and his sidekick and super dog for years, Jeter.  He was predeceased by his only sibling, Thomas John McGeorge who died in 1989.  Todd missed him deeply for over thirty years.

A gathering to celebrate Todd’s life will be held in Michigan at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences may be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

Condolences to the McGeorge family and friends. Todd was loved by many, many people and will be deeply missed by all his “Family Dollar” family and many others who knew him. He was always helpful, kind, caring, and most of all fun. He always brought us together, made us smile, and wanted us to enjoy ourselves. His gentle soul and kindness reflected an even bigger heart and we are all better people for knowing him. With great sympathy, Judy
