William "Bill" Heyward Robertson

CHARLOTTE – William “Bill” Heyward Robertson, 76, of Charlotte, NC passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, in the Harris Hospice Unit at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center.  He had suffered with Parkinson’s and dementia for the last ten years of his life.

Bill graduated Garinger High School in 1965 and received a full football scholarship to the Citadel where he played tight end until he graduated in 1969.

For twenty-three years, Bill was a Sales Manager for Adidas. After he retired, he joined his wife as her real estate partner at Dickens Mitchner for ten years.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He enjoyed spending time at the beach with his family and watching his grandson play football.  Bill loved playing golf and trout fishing in the North Carolina mountains.  He loved college football and basketball.

Bill Robertson had the best smile and was always so welcoming to family and friends, he never met a stranger. Bill was a gentle giant, who loved his family very much! He will be greatly missed.

Bill is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Mary Bibb Robertson; his son, Dallas Robertson and his wife, Vicki and their son, Rivers Robertson; his daughter, Ginny Robertson and his, granddogs, Sam and Jones (Dave).  He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Hilda Robertson and his brother, James “Jay” Robertson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Myers Park Presbyterian Church, 2501 Oxford Place, Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends following the service in Oxford Hall.  The service will be livestreamed at: https://myersparkpres.org/live/ for those unable to attend in person.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Bill to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, PO Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
