Michelle Marie Neun

September 14, 2023

CHARLOTTE - Michelle Marie Neun, 42, our beautiful force of life and loving mother of three children passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023.  She was born on January 11, 1981, in Houston, TX.

As a child, Michelle was a talented athlete in track, soccer, and volleyball before facing her first battle with cancer in the form of Leukemia.  After nearly four years of treatment, she conquered the disease and subsequently headed off to Vanderbilt University where she was an Ingram Scholar and met the love of her life, Gregory.  Michelle married immediately after graduation and moved to Charlotte where she raised three incredible children, pursued her passion in home building and renovation, and made an indelible impact on the Charlotte community.

Michelle was a genuine soul, always ready to live life to the fullest, while having the utmost compassion for her family and friends.  Michelle would do anything for those she loved and even those she just met wanting nothing more than people to be happy and flourish.  Her sincerity and loyalty can be seen in the army of support she received while battling cancer for the second time.  She felt blessed and truly comforted by the love and support she received during a very difficult time.

Michelle is survived by her husband, Gregory Neun; her three children, William, Maxwell and Penelope; parents, Andrew and Cathleen Martin; her brother, Andrew Martin and his wife, Amy and sisters, Millicent Martin, Megan Martin and her husband, Matthew Smith and McKenzie Martin.  Also surviving are her in-laws, Carl and Kathleen Neun; her nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services for Michelle will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Myers Park United Methodist Church, 1501 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be private in Elmwood Cemetery.  The funeral service will be livestreamed by the church at: https://boxcast.tv/channel/avywlradrkwnpw81mpef for those unable to attend in person.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Michelle to The Sunshine Kids Foundation, 2814 Virginia Street, Houston, TX 77098 (www.sunshinekids.org).

May she find eternal peace and comfort while we continue to celebrate her life and legacy each and every day.

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606.  Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

I remember our first outing together at Cafe Monte. I invited a group of PD moms to meet Michelle, as a new PD parent. We had the best time laughing and sharing origin stories. From that day forward, I always looked forward to our get togethers. She was such a bright light that sparkled every time I saw her. Sending love and strength through this difficult time.
