Joseph Price Pritchard

CHARLOTTE- Joseph Price Pritchard, 92, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully Monday, September 11, 2023.  A native of Charlotte, Joe was born March 21, 1931, to Hazel Hudspeth and Thomas Wilbur Pritchard. He was the youngest of five children.

Joe graduated from Central High School and attended the University Of South Carolina.  He also attended Oak Ridge Military Academy.  Joe served his country in the United States Marine Corps.  In April,1959, he married Iris Kornegay of Bennettsville SC, to whom he remained married until her passing in 2021.  After working for his father's company, Pritchard Paint & Glass, Joe started his own construction company, Pritchard Glass & Construction.  He had a home office, which allowed him more time to spend with his family.  Joe was such a happy and devoted father after the birth of his two sons, Jody, in 1972 and Matthew, in 1976.  He shared with his wife a love of animals, and always had many dogs and cats.  His favorite breed was English Llewellin Setters, with which he enjoyed bird hunting.  He also loved fishing at the local lakes and surf fishing at the coast.

Joe is survived by his sons, Joseph “Jody” Price Pritchard V and Matthew Pritchard, both of Charlotte.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday September 19, 2023, at Magnolia Gardens Cemetery, 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC.  

Memorial contributions may be offered in memory of Joe to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

    I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Pritchard and embarking on a lengthy discussion. It’s was fun listening to him speak of his past, which was quite fascinating.
