Gregory Jack Brusberg

Charlotte - Gregory Jack Brusberg, 71, passed away on August 8, 2023 at Novant Health Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by his family, after a long illness.

Greg was born on February 1, 1952 to Jack and Betty Brusberg in Beloit, Wisconsin in 1952. He was an excellent student with an interest in the wider world. Graduating from Purdue University in 1974, Greg went on to graduate from the Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management in Phoenix, AZ, earning a Masters of International Management and Finance with honors. Greg began his career with Citizens and Southern Bank in Atlanta and was subsequently stationed at the bank’s office in Singapore for a number of years. There, he met his future wife, Sommana, of Bangkok, Thailand. When Greg was reassigned to Atlanta in 1987, they married, and in 1989 they welcomed the arrival of their son Luther. Greg, Sommana, and Luther returned to Singapore with Nationsbank ( later Bank of America) in the 1990’s, and his area of expertise was risk assessment of international investments and accounts. In 1999, he received a Commendation from the American Chamber in Singapore for his work in the business community. After returning to the U.S., Greg joined Wells Fargo Bank in Charlotte in 2002 as a Senior Vice President and Loan Team Manager for European Financial Institutions, Multilateral Institutions, and Central Banks. He retired in 2019, completing a forty-three year career in international banking. Greg loved his family very much. He had a strong and abiding interest in world affairs and politics and was a consummate fan of all manner of sports, particularly Big Ten football and the Green Bay Packers.

Greg was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Betty, and by his sister Gail West and brother Garey Brusberg. He is survived by his wife Sommana, son Luther, stepdaughter Chalintha Klinkerd (Warawut), sister-in-law Beth Brusberg, nephews Michael Brusberg ( Michelle) and Mark Brusberg (Laura), brother-in-law Pres West, nieces Kerry West and Laura West, and nephew Scott West (Sarah).

A private family service will take place at a later date.
