Bosiljka (Bosa) Stojkovich

July 8, 2023

CHARLOTTE – It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, we share the news of the loss of our beloved Bosiljka (Bosa) Stojkovich who passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the age of 88.

Bosa was born in Ridjage, a village outside of Čačak, in Serbia (the former Yugoslavia) and was one of four children of Dragoljub and Stanimirka Mićović.  She came to the United States as a young woman to join her parents who had immigrated to Chicago after WWII.  There she met Predrag Stojkovich, another recent émigré and her future husband of 60 years.

Bosa was somewhat unique among her generation in that she was the first young woman in her and the surrounding villages to attend university in Belgrade.  She completed her academic studies in the United States and obtained her Bachelor’s degree at Roosevelt University in Chicago.

Bosa was beloved by her family and friends who regarded her as a “very thoughtful, generous and giving person”.  Bosa was a gifted storyteller and those who knew her greatly enjoyed her vivid accounts of growing up in her small village.

Bosa is survived by her husband, Predrag; daughter, Annette Stojkovich-Chinn and her husband, Joe; son, Goran Stojkovich and his wife, Kim; her six grandchildren, Nathan, Alex, Maya, Andrew, Sasha and Luka.  Also surviving are her sister, Nada and her husband, Todd; nephews and nieces, Dragi, David, Ljubo, Zlata, Katarina and Jelena.

We pray that she will be reunited in heaven with her dear son, Mio; brother, Ljubisa and parents.  Her kind and loving personality will never be forgotten!  May her memory be eternal!

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at St. Simeon Serbian Orthodox Church in Charlotte, NC.  The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church.  Bosa will be laid to rest at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery in Libertyville, IL.  Final respects may be made beginning at 10:00 AM at the monastery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Bosa to International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), 110 West Road, Suite 360, Baltimore, MD 21204 or Doctors Without Borders, PO Box 5023, Hagerstown, MD 21741.

Gospodja Bosa was a member of the Circle of Serbian Sisters of Holy Resurrection Cathedral in Chicago. I recall many times when she and Gospodin Predrag would volunteer their time and their talents to build our buildings and our Serbian community. Vjecnaja Pamjat! Moje iskreno saucesce familija
