Nancy L. Elmore

CHARLOTTE – Nancy L. Elmore, 86, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, after a long illness. Nancy was born October 28, 1936 to William Oscar Lemmons and Edith Rich Lemmons in Burlington, NC.

Nancy studied at Elon College in Burlington and went on to a career in teaching.  She met her husband, Thomas F. Elmore, while working in the school system.  In 1977, she had her son, Christopher F. Elmore. Thomas and Christopher were the light of her life.  She taught for more than 30 years in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system, focusing on business, mathematics, and the yearbook, before retiring to pursue her personal interests.

Nancy is survived by her son, Christopher F. Elmore; her brother, Roger Lemmons; sister, Ruth Black and her brother-in-law, E. John Elmore.

Services will be private.

Memorials may be offered in memory of Nancy to Holy Angels Nursery, PO Box 710, Belmont, NC 28012.

    Mrs. Elmore allowed me to take yearbook as a sophomore at Myers Park because she taught my older brother. It was one of my favorite classes at any level of school. She was just the best. My prayers are with her family.

    Mrs. Elmore taught typing and I credit her for helping me get a job during my senior year at Myers Park High with the Red Cross doing data processing. She was quiet but an outstanding teacher. So saddened to learn of her passing.
