Alice Mauzy Lowe

March 23, 2023

Alice Mauzy Lowe died Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Sharon Towers. Born February 14, 1942 in Charlotte, NC, she was the daughter of the late Courtney Roler Mauzy and Mary Catharine Mauzy.

Alice graduated from Myers Park High School in 1960 and attended Converse College, graduating in 1964 with a degree in art history. After moving around the southeast with her young family, she returned to Charlotte in 1978. Alice’s eye for color led her to a career in the printing business. After several years of selling printing services, she started her own business, Alice Lowe Graphic Consultant, where First Union National Bank became her largest client. She eventually joined First Union formally to start the Creative Services Group which she led for 10 years. It was often said that Alice could spot First Union green (Pantone #342) from a mile away.

After retirement, Alice engaged in several volunteer activities including working with youth at the Family Center/Alexander Youth Network, reading with students at Billingsville Elementary School, and providing lunchtime relief to the receptionist at First Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She also enjoyed lunch dates and visits with her “Lunch Bunch” and other dear friends.

Alice always wanted grandchildren and relished the days that she cared for her two granddaughters before they entered pre-school. Being a natural caregiver and dog lover, she also felt called to rescue neglected dogs. The perfect ending to Alice’s day was sitting on her deck working on a Wuzzle or Jumble in the newspaper, sipping a glass of wine, with Ginger, Zanja, Nikki or Allee by her side.

Alice is survived by her children, John Walker Lowe, Jr, and his wife Lisa, of Brevard, and Alice Catherine Crigler and her husband Robert, of Charlotte; and her granddaughters whom she was so proud of, Mary Leonard Siewers Crigler and Walker Elizabeth Crigler, of Charlotte. Also surviving are her brother, Courtney Roler Mauzy, Jr and his wife Bo, of Little Switzerland, NC and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends.

A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends in the welcome center following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered in memory of Alice to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 1348 Parker Dr., Charlotte, NC 28208 (https://humanesocietyofcharlotte.org/give/in-honormemory-of/); CMPD Animal Care and Control, 8315 Byrum Dr., Charlotte, NC 28217 (https://charlottenc.gov/AnimalsCMPD/Donate/Pages/Donations.htm); or Sharon Towers, 5100 Sharon Rd., Charlotte, NC 28210.

Alice, my friend... I had the opportunity to meet Alice in a caregiver assignment. We quickly became more than that. Every Wednesday was the day we got together for shopping.... She would introduce me to her favorites... The grand daughters... I even went to a piano recital.... I will miss you Alice❣️
